Dear Friends, Having been on staff with the YMCA since 2004, I've seen many transitions within the organization. We went from having thousands of members, to being hit by Hurricane Rita, to where we are now. Currently we do not have a facility open to the people of Southwest Louisiana, so we offer off-site programs, called “Y without walls.” Also, we are in the midst of the biggest transition, I think, since the Y first opened in Lake Charles in 1941; a capital campaign established to raise the funds necessary to renovate, rejuvenate, and reopen the downtown YMCA for all of Southwest Louisiana.
With the help of our enthusiastic Board of Directors, I know I will see a dream become a reality; to reopen a facility that most locals in the area know as "home." It is my job as well as my dream to have this opportunity, and I value each and every day that brings Southwest Louisiana closer to having its YMCA back.
